Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is the application of techniques by a therapist’s hands and arms to the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissues, and joints of the body. A Registered Massage Therapist (R.M.T) has training in assessment techniques, stretching, remedial exercise, and hydrotherapy, which can all be applied for treating various symptoms or conditions. Each session is tailored to your specific needs. Your therapist will discuss and describe the techniques they plan to use prior to your treatment.

Massage Therapists are health care professionals committed to restoring and maintaining optimal health and pain-free function of the body.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long a massage should I book?

We offer 30, 45, 60, and 90 minute sessions. For a first visit or a specific problem area, 45 to 60 minutes is a common starting point. Your therapist can recommend the right length for your needs.

What happens at my first massage therapy appointment?

Your therapist will talk through your history and goals, then tailor the treatment to your specific needs. They will discuss and describe the techniques they plan to use before your treatment begins.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for massage therapy?

No. You can book directly with any of our registered massage therapists. Some private insurance plans ask for a doctor’s referral before they reimburse you, so it is worth checking your plan.

Is massage therapy covered by insurance?

Most extended health plans cover treatment by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). Coverage amounts vary by plan, so check with your provider. We provide an itemized receipt you can submit for reimbursement.

Should I talk during my massage?

That is entirely up to you. Your comfort comes first, so feel free to speak up at any time about pressure, discomfort, or anything else.
