Osteopathy
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual therapy that aims to improve health across all body systems by manipulating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework.
A manual osteopath will focus on the joints, muscles, and spine. Treatment aims to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems. Manual medicine means that both assessment and treatment are carried out with the hands.

Using a wide variety of techniques, including myofascial release, joint manipulation, craniosacral therapy, among many others – Gerry uses an osteopathic approach to find the root cause of your pain. Osteopathy takes a look at the individual and not just symptoms, so all of Gerry’s treatments are tailored specifically to you, not just your presenting symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a manual osteopath do?
A manual osteopath focuses on the joints, muscles, and spine, using hands-on assessment and treatment to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems.
What happens at my first osteopathy appointment?
Your practitioner will take a full history and look at your body as a whole, not just your presenting symptoms, then use a variety of hands-on techniques tailored specifically to you.
Do I need a doctor’s referral for osteopathy?
No. You can book directly. Some private insurance plans ask for a doctor’s referral before they reimburse you, so it is worth checking your plan.
Is osteopathy covered by insurance?
Coverage varies by plan. Check with your provider about how your plan handles osteopathic and massage therapy treatments. We provide an itemized receipt you can submit for reimbursement.
What should I wear to an osteopathy appointment?
Comfortable clothing you can move in works best, since treatment involves hands-on assessment and movement.
